At this moment, Arjuna — one of the greatest warriors — collapses emotionally on the battlefield. As he looks at both armies, he realizes he must fight his own relatives, teachers, and friends. The weight of moral responsibility overwhelms him.
Instead of charging into battle, Arjuna drops his bow, sits down, and questions the very meaning of duty, victory, and righteousness. His despair is not fear — it is existential conflict.
Lord Krishna, his charioteer and guide, does not immediately give answers. He listens. This moment of vulnerability becomes the foundation for the entire Bhagavad Gita.
Arjuna Vishada Yogam represents a universal human experience:
when clarity collapses, when moral choices feel unbearable, and when strength alone is no longer enough.
Only after fully acknowledging this inner breakdown does true wisdom begin.
The metaphor. I have given in the environment is that of heavy clouds surrounding Arjun showing his mind is covered in doubts. While behind Krishna the sunlight is flourishing. He is very clear about his opinion. The wind is flowing from left to right implying the clouds will eventually move away. Arjun will get clarity. Also a swan is moving towards the sunlight. Swan which is Saraswathi's( goddess of wisdom) vehicle is moving towards light. Implying Arjun is getting the right knowledge from Krishna. You can see the sunrays falling on the bow of Arjun. Maybe he is speaking to him to take the Gandeeva ( his divine bow)and fight. But there are more details.
